NADO members and staff recently participated in the International Transportation and Economic Development conference, hosted by the Transportation Research Board’s Transportation and Economic Development committee. NADO members Lyle Wray, Executive Director of the Capital Region Council of Governments in Hartford, Connecticut, and Scott Turnoy, Mobility Manager at the Mid-Columbia Economic Development District, based in The Dalles, Oregon, spoke about regional transportation planning efforts to support cluster-based economic development strategies. • The application deadline for NADO’s Innovation Award and Excellence in Regional Transportation Award closes soon. Award-winning projects are often used in NADO’s congressional testimony, research reports and issues briefs. These special reports and policy briefs are an essential part of our federal advocacy efforts. We need your stories and background information to tell a compelling story about the impact and results of the nation’s regional development organizations. Winners will be honored during a special roundtable reception during the 2011 National Rural Transportation Peer Learning Conference in Washington, DC and at NADO’s 2011 Annual Training Conference in Miami Beach, FL.
